Peanut butter and jelly. A classic combo that never gets old.
This is a sandwich full of potential: protein from the nuts, fiber in the fruit, whole grains with healthy fat, more fiber and B-vitamins from the bread. Obviously we don’t always make it with whole grain bread, real fruit spread and all-natural peanut butter.
But maybe it should be.
Maybe we can make it even better then a lunch.
MAYBE we can get all the flavors that belong together in that simple sandwich we know and love, AND THEN get them into a shake that’s just as easy and more nutritious.
Well, damn. Let’s have at it.
A classic like this never gets old. But sometimes it can get a little boring. Switch it up by mixing and matching your nut butters and your fruits.
Peanut butter and strawberries. Almond butter and blueberries. Cashew butter and raspberries.
The combinations are endless. You can even go a little crazy and add a couple spoonfuls of cocoa powder.
Whatever you do, don’t skip the ground flax seeds.
Flax seeds have a great nutty flavor that blends right into the shake, adding a generous amount of omega-3 fatty acids to your morning.
This PB+J smoothie is the perfect mix of everything that you should be eating first thing in the morning. It’s a healthy balance of protein and fiber with a sweet kick to keep you smiling.
