My name is Shani and I’m a dietitian.
I’m here to help you – a beginner to healthy eating – make specific, goal-oriented changes at your pace to reach your best level of healthy.
Let’s just be clear about the kind of nutritionist I am right out the gate, so there’s no confusion.
What I’m NOT is the kind who eats a no-dressing salad every time we go to brunch.
I’m the kind that’s begging you to share dessert with me, before we’ve even ordered drinks. Chocolate can be a problem for me.
It’s true what they say. It really IS all about balance.
Every day I do nutrition counseling with all kinds of people. Our conversations are never me handing over some general pre-printed crap diet plan and then walking out.
My job is to help my clients find a balance between eating the things they want to eat and the things they should be eating. Which is the story of my life. My life is one long negotiation between that slice of cake and that salad.
That’s why I do what I do. Because I’m pretty good at that negotiation.
What I want us to do together here. Everything you’ll find on here are goal-oriented ways to get you started, keep you going, and then push you to the next level. When you’re ready.
This is your chance to work with a nutritionist, without ever meeting (or paying!) a nutritionist.
Everyone has different goals and different starting points. We’re different people and we all need different things. Nutrition should never be cookie cutter program. If you ever find someone telling you to do things EXACTLY the way their aunt did – run! It’s a trap! You’re getting set up for failure, by folks who probably have great intentions.
But seriously. No one’s program will (or should) look the same.
And on top of that, if you’re cutting out every. single. thing. in your life that you love, you’ll end up miserable. And miserable is not part of healthy.
Healthy and happy is our ultimate goal.
