Low on energy? Start here with these energy boosting vitamins
Trying to find enough time in the day is like trying to climb Mt. Everest in flip flops.
It’s practically impossible.
I’m always looking for ways to squeeze the last few minutes out of my day. Or at least keep me awake so I can struggle through the last thing on my to-do list.
In a PERFECT world, we’d eat a diet that miraculously gives us 100% of everything we need to look, feel and act our best.
In the REAL world, we eat unbalanced meals too quickly and then stay up too late with WAY too much coffee trying to fit it all in.
Do you feel me on this? Have you been running yourself into the ground with no sleep + lots of coffee AND maybe (definitely) eating badly?
It might be time for something a bit more…replenishing.
This is where supplements step in. They help to bridge the gap between what we need and what we actually get.
This list of non-caffeine or stimulant containing supplements can help get you past that low energy hump. When taken responsibly there’s a great chance you’ll start feeling more energized right away.

Potassium with Magnesium Aspartate
These two minerals stimulate energy production of a cellular level, along with cardiovascular health. Which is everything we want and need in life. Potassium and Magnesium are also two nutrients that most people DON’T get enough of. And without optimal levels in our system, this can show itself as fatigue. And BONUS! If your stress levels are high at bathroom time, this can help with constipation. Take for 2 months and see how you’re feeling. Then scale down to half the dose or cut it completely- until you start getting run down again.
B12
A lot of people feel a WHOLE lot better when they start taking B12. There are some studies that say you don’t even have to be deficient to feel a difference. Some studies even say many people feel better when they have HIGHER than normal range levels of B12 in their system. We can only get this from meat sources, so if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, B12 should is a MUST take. As a supplement, it can’t be absorbed as a tablet or capsule. For this reason, intramuscular shots can be given by an MD or sublingual dissolving tablets work well also. Get methylcobalomin form of B12 if you’re taking it on your own. It’s better absorbed and utilized by the body when taken orally.
A GREAT Multivitamin-Mineral
Fatigue is often one of the first signs of generalized micronutrient deficiency, and that right there is the number one reason multi-vitamins are necessary. A high quality multi that your body can absorb and utilize is a smart place to start, especially if you’ve been feeling a little more run down than normal. If you’re already taking a multivitamin, consider that with supplements, you get what you pay for. If you’re taking one that’s not so high quality, you’re going to get not such high quality results. Even with a tip top diet, there’s often still room for a multivitamin. Take a great multivitamin daily and you’ll cover ALL your bases.
Vitamin C
One of the symptoms of vitamin C deficiency is fatigue. A lot of evidence points to vitamin C being helpful, especially in people under a LOT of stress for LONG periods. Taking vitamin C might not give you a sudden boost, but it will support the energy production your body is already doing. And because it’s such a powerful antioxidant and anti inflammatory, you’ll also be supporting your immune system when you take vitamin C. Because nothing says exhausted like getting sick.
Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha has been one of the most widely used herbs in traditional medicine. It’s an adaptogen, meaning it helps our body respond and adjust to stress triggers (external like your boss, or pollution) and internal triggers (like anxiety and depression). Aswagandah is also an anti inflammatory and can allow the body to use its energy in ways that help you feel better overall.
Rhodiola
Rhodiola is also an adaptogenic herb like ashwaghanda. It’s been used for centuries and has been known for its restorative properties in decreasing fatigue and improving things like memory and concentration. And who doesn’t need a boost in memory and concentration? Rhodiola also supports immune function and is an antioxidant supporting improved mental health for depression and anxiety.
Beetroot
Beets have a leafy green top, and the bright red (or golden) beetroot. The roots of the red beets are full of iron which support of oxygen transport and nitric oxide in the body. Iron makes sure we get oxygen to where it’s needed most – places like our brain or heart and our gut system. When we don’t get enough oxygen, we get tired because our bodies have to work way harder to do the same amount. Taking beetroot, or even adding more beets to your diet can make a big difference without having to take an iron supplement.
Hydration
A classic symptom of dehydration is fatigue. When we get dehydrated, our blood volume decreases. This leads to our body having a harder time transporting the oxygen and nutrients we need to feel our best. When we drink stay hydrated, we can flush our brain and other organs with the oxygen we need to stay alert and energized. When we’re hydrated we have enough blood volume to supply our gut with everything it needs for good digestion. If you notice that not only are you EXHAUSTED but you’re also having some tummy issues, start by making sure you’re drinking at least 1-2 liters of water a day. Filtered water is best. Try keeping a travel water bottle that has a filtration system built in. You’ll never have to buy a bottle of water again.
